Che caldo

It was 40 degrees C on the thermometer outside at lunchtime today. The air conditioning on the car is on the blink (in that it isn't blowing cold), so you can imagine what it was like sat in the traffic today. I'm not looking forward to doing that again tomorrow.

I think I'll have to stop wearing jeans soon. They'll have to be tucked away for the summer. Miss them as I will, it's just too darn hot.

The heat means that people have started wearing white trousers and incorrect underwear too. So wrong. One of the perils of the summer I suppose.

Do these people not own mirrors? Or do they think it's sexy, in some very wrong way!?!

And 40 C...is it humid there as well? I definately won't be handling that very well, at all.

oh I completely agree that white pants with wrong underwear is certainly a PERIL! :)

Giovanna, I wonder too if they have a mirror, or a friend who would tell them not to leave the house like that.

It is very humid, yeah :(

Chris and Erin, I'm glad you agree :)

It was only 32 here and I was miserable (it was incredibly humid.) I'm so sorry your car AC isn't working! Are there any places to go in Naples to keep cool?

My husband sometimes does the incorrect underwear thing! He's very sensitive, so I never say anything. I figure, at least he fits in.

KC, it was around 33 here yesterday according to the weather reports, but on 2 thermometers outside it said 40. I think they take the official readings in the shade don’t they?

The only place I can think of to keep cool here is in my house with the air con on and the office :). I know it’s not good for you so I avoid using the air con as much as possible, but when it really warms up it’s the only thing which makes it more bearable.

40 C!!! I wonder how hot it will be when my wife & I arrive on July 5th!

It was something like 38 yesterday in Rome. Very humid and the pollution just hanging in the air. Yuk. It was painful just breathing in that dirty hot air on my walk home.

My boyfriend's sister was visiting from Holland and she was just not coping with the heat. Luckily I have lots of practice dealing with hot weather with no AC - so I was ok.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with the white pants/underwear thing either. Some things really are just cultural. Boiling here as well, but at least I don't have to sit in the car in it. Hope your A/C works again soon.

It's sweltering here too. The newspaper said it was some hot air phenomenon with a name I can't remember, from North Africa (not scirocco though)... you know how excited they get about the weather around here... headlines for days when there are heatwaves!

I imagine it's even hotter down where you are Sognatrice. You must think I'm a right wimp :D

there's something completely wrong in wearing black slips with white pants that A LOT of people seems to not know. Someone should promulgate a summer law.

Have you ever seen someone with black slip and white linen trousers wet in the rain? I did and it was worse than dry.

Being caught in the rain like that sounds shocking Pola. IMO it's beige coloured undies only under white.

Do they have "visible bras" too :))!

I like the white trousers though - it's just picking the ones that won't make me look like some kind of water buffalo that bothers me, along with the right underwear of course! Black knickers, white trousers, big bum = Water buffalo, for sure.
