I think it's a case of love them or hate them. Hate is a strong word but I certainly don't love them. Actually I don't like them at all.
They've not really reached Italian shores yet. Will they or won't they? I'm not sure if they'll go right with the Vespa.

Actually - they have arrived in Northern Italy =) My mother-and sister-in-law both have a pair. Honestly, I used to hate them - they are SO UGLY - BUT, I am a convert. They are so comfortable to walk in!
They remind me of the hospital clogs I had to wear!
They are not pretty at all, and I don't have a pair, but if they're anything like the light hospital clogs, It was like walking on air!
Did they have to be so ugly? Why should one have to choose between pretty shoes that hurt or ugly comfy shoes? Hmmm...
They have to be the ugliest things ever. I'll choose looks over comfort any day when it comes to shoes!
Texas espresso, I have seen them in one shop here but I haven't seen anyone actually wearing them - except for non-Italians in the airport.
I'm surprised that they are comfortable as they're made of plastic. Unless you wear socks with them of course :S
Farfallina, they're definitely hospital clogs revamped :D
Kathy, I like shoes to be comfortable, but I have limits and they stop at crocs! eheheh
I'm with you on this one. Comfortable or not, they're ugly as sin and I won't be wearing them any time soon. Unfortunately, I have seen them quite a bit in the past few weeks, being worn by Italians (in Abruzzo). :(
Ha ha!! I dont like them, either!!
Crocks and faux-crocks are ALL over rome!
They are here! There are at least 3 shops in Positano alone that sell them, and there are loads of Napolitanos parading around in the fake ones too.
I think they look sweet on little kids but not on adults.
They're everywhere, but fakes. The big thing was supposed to be a modern material, so the fakes are just ugly with no redeeming features, I suppose.
Vespa? I think they go with a mobility scooter.
Giusi "Vespa? I think they go with a mobility scooter"
ROTFL!
The nurses in the hospital where I worked swore by them. Sure they are very ugly, but when you are on your feet all day you stop caring about beauty and care about comfort. I don't know why anybody else (who doesn't work on their feet 8 hours a day) would want to wear them though.
I think they are down right tacky. They have made a newer model that is like a Mary Jane type style, but still....There plenty of other shoes that are really comfy and stylish. I prefer Keens myself. People here in Portland really have the style and comfort factor down. It's a really walkable city and I haven't seen too many Crocs 'round these parts.
I'm with you. I'm not a big fan. I think they are ugly.
I don't like them, especially since while I was on vacation I got kicked in the water right between the legs (yes, TMI) by someone who was wearing the same type of shoes! lol
ha... and you know my thoughts... :o)
I think I'll stick to my Birkenstocks but they look so cute on my 3 year old!
I think the originals are SOOO ugly. I do see them here now, a lot - the fakes.
I have to admit though, I ordered a light pink pair of the mary janes and a pair of the Prima ballet slippers for the house. We don't wear shoes in the house, but house slippers, and I have to have something comfy - I have such problems with my feet. I figured I would give them a try. They aren't here yet... However, I will never wear them in public! But I keep hearing how comfy they are, so I wanted to try them (in the house.)
If the Primas are cute, I might consider those for the grocery store. hehe
Do you think these are kind of cute? http://tinyurl.com/gpvpk
American girl in Italy, the ballet style Primas are better looking than the classic Crocs, but I still can't help thinking that they are still plastic shoes and so they are never going to be that comfy if you walk in them quite a bit. In the house they should be ok though :)
Those are shoes for kids or gardening.
I will never wear them. I hope they go away just like the Uggs fad in L.A. It's hot in Los Angeles. I never understood the concept of wearing a mini-skirt and Uggs.
My sister-in-law has been wearing them for a while now, but I haven't seen too many in the shops around here. They were all over the shops in Tropea, though. I think they were mostly fakes but I did see some originals as well. I was not tempted to buy a pair.
Hello! I am new to your blog, and love it. And these shoes are just the most horrible things I have ever seen. We have a few of them floating around down here in Sicily, but for the moment only on the feet of foreigners.
P.S Hope you don't mind if I like you to my new baby blog.
Hospitals in the UK are already banning them! Can't remember why. I have a pair but only wear them in the garden - great in the wet in winter! No soggy slippers!
